Red Lipstick Is For EveryoneJasmeet Gosal ~ July 24, 2017
Back when I didn’t know much about makeup, (I’m still learning), I used to think that one shade of red lipstick suited all skin tones. This led me to wonder why certain reds didn’t look as good on me as they did on other people. Oh, wait… Undertones! Undertones and natural lip pigmentation are two important factors in determining how a shade of red is going to look on one individual versus another. Use your complexion as a guide to discover the most flattering red for you!
- Fair Complexion: To complement the pink undertones in a fair complexion, try reaching for red lipsticks that have a blue undertone. The blue undertone will bring out the vibrancy in the red which will truly make the lipstick pop! We recommend “I Am Tough” Matte Liquid Lipstick.
- Olive Complexion: Not all, but some olive complexions can have yellow undertones. To best complement this complexion, opt for a brick or rusty red. Check out “I Am A Fighter” Lip Gloss.
- Medium Complexion: The beauty of medium complexions is that they tan easily and look amazing alongside a orangey red lipstick. Keep the orangey reds for summer and select reds with blue undertones for winter. We have the perfect summertime orangey red - “I Am Fierce” Moisturizing Lipstick.
- Dark Complexion: Similar to olive skin tones, yellow undertones in dark complexion can be more prominent on some individuals than others. Dark complexions can get away with either reds with plum undertones, or reds with brown undertones. Try “I Am Powerful” Moisturizing Lipstick or “I Am A Fighter” Lip Gloss.
