DIY Face MasksApril Leonard ~ July 17, 2017
We all love a spa day, nobody can deny that. But what we don’t love is the bill when we leave the spa, yikes! Shopping for face masks is also hard, since they’re not really a product you can try out before purchasing. So what’s a girl to do. Well, you could search on Pinterest for some DIY face masks and then head down to the kitchen where you probably already have every single ingredient you will need. I don’t know about you, but this is the perfect way for me to see what type of mask reacts best to my skin before purchasing one with similar ingredients. So stop spending time in the skincare aisle and start spending a little more time in your kitchen, whipping up the perfect combination for your skin.
The redness reducing oatmeal mask. Chances are you will have these ingredients handy, because most likely you eat them for breakfast.
- 2 tablespoons of raw oats
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- ½ of a banana
Oats are a great natural exfoliator and very soothing on the skin. Mash the oats with the banana to form a paste and add the honey for anti-bacterial properties that relieve inflamed skin.
The egg white mask. Looking for a product that will minimize the appearance of pores? Aren’t we all. Here is what you’ll need.
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon of orange juice
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder
Place the egg white and orange juice in a small mixing bowl and whisk until frothy. Add in turmeric powder and mix thoroughly. Apply the mixture onto face and massage in a circular motion. Keep the mask on for 15 minutes while lying down, so the mask doesn’t drip off your face. Gently scrub the dried mask from your face and apply a moisturizer.
Avocado and honey mask. This is the ultimate mask for dry and peeling skin.
- ½ very ripe avocado
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- ½ teaspoon of coconut oil
Mash or puree the avocado until creamy, mix in honey and coconut oil. Apply to face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wipe your skin clean with a damp, warm cloth.
