Avoid Makeup Meltdowns with These 3 Key ProductsJasmeet Gosal ~ June 27, 2017
Although I love summertime in Southern California, I’m not a fan of my makeup melting off my face the minute I step outside. For the few months that we experience over a 100 degree weather everyday, I struggle to find ways to make my makeup last throughout the day. Of course you can go out and buy longer lasting, waterproof makeup, but the real question is, how do you keep your makeup looking fresh after it’s been sitting on your face all day? Sweat is inevitable, but a combination of the following products can do an amazing job in minimizing oiliness and shine!
- Powder game strong: Upon applying your foundation, be sure to set it with any mattifying powder. This is key because the powder is going to seal in all the product that you have previously applied. If you prefer extra coverage like myself, opt for a tinted powder (same color as your foundation), or a translucent powder which is a lightweight powder that blends into your skin while providing sheer coverage.
- It’s like gum… Pull it out and everyone wants one: Blotting sheets. I was always hesitant to use blotting sheets because I was under the notion that they were going to move my foundation out of place, leaving patches of my skin revealed. To avoid that from happening, it is important to pat the blotting sheet on your face and not swipe it across your makeup.
- A little spritz here and a little spritz there: Setting sprays are used once you’re done applying your makeup; to set all the product in place. Spray a few times from an above angle to give your face a refreshing mist. Setting spray usually comes in small bottles so they won’t take up too much space in your bag if you want to touch up throughout the day.
